On May 22nd, 2002, as part of a Father's Day collection of 50th Anniversary commemorative merchandise, Lord & Taylor unveiled "the ultimate fashion accessory" - Corvette's 50th Anniversary Edition. This 2003 Corvette was seen for the first time in the New York flagship store's Fifth Avenue windows, a week before it was seen again at the Indianapolis 500 race.
Along with the 2003 model, Lord & Taylor also featured Corvettes from 1955, 1966 and 1978.
The installation of the windows took several hours, and required the removal of the plate glass, with cars driven through the open windows one by one. The overnight project was completed at sunrise the following day.
